CLASS DESCRIPTION
TRIPLE THREAT MUSICAL THEATRE – PART I (Ages 12 & Up)
In theatre language, a triple threat is a performer who sings well, dances well and acts well. This type of performer is also called the “director’s dream” and is highly sought after by colleges for scholarships and by theatre casting agents. A triple threat is becoming today’s norm in musical theatre. Using Broadway scripts and scores, a choreographer, acting coach and musical director will work with students on vocal production while dancing, character development and movement for the theatre. For the final class, the instructors and students will open the classroom doors to family and friends to showcase their progress. Beginning next year, Part II of this program will continue with more advanced techniques in musical theatre including how to audition, resume preparation as well as preparing for a spring class presentation. At the end of Part II, students will have studied the skills needed to be a competitive, well-rounded musical theatre auditionee and performer and will show off their skills in a final presentation.
