COLLEGE AUDTION SEMINAR
This four hour master seminar helps to ready high school students for their college musical theatre audition. In the first section, SELECTING AND PERFORMING SONGS, music director and professional actor, Mark Christine and vocal coach Ellen Lettrich discuss how to make strong song selections and acting choices as well as taking the student and parent through the entire audition process. Ellen Lettrich who is also a professional medical voice therapist for the Pittsburgh Voice Center continues by addressing VOCAL HEALTH. Heather Sumlin, Director of Performance Programs for the Mental Management Company, delves into how to FOCUS THE MIND when under pressure during competitive auditions. In the final section acting coach Mary Anna Dennard explores monologue selection and includes a student performance of a winning college audition. A recruiter from Meadows School of the Arts at SMU discusses the ADMISSIONS PROCESS from the University’s point-of-view. During different parts of the seminar students may be asked to participate. We encourage at least one of the students’ parents or guardians to join the seminar and ask questions.
