Class: MUSICAL THEATRE (Ages 7-12)
Class Show: COOL YULE TIDINGS A WORLDLY CELEBRATION
Dates: September 17, 2009 – December 10, 2009, 5:15 – 7:15 pm
Technical Rehearsal: Friday, December 11, 2009, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Performances: Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 & 4:00 pm
Non-YMCA Member Cost: $489

Note: Some Thursday classes may go until 8:00 pm in preparation for performance.
There is no class Thanksgiving week.
CLASS DESCRIPTION – MUSICAL THEATRE (Ages 7 – 12)
COOL YULE TIDINGS A WORLDLY CELEBRATION
Holiday festivities take center stage as students portray the many traditions from around the world of the winter season. Actors change characters and countries to take us on a lively journey to different lands. Hold on to your hats as we travel from Africa and the seven principles of Kwanzaa to Mexico’s festivals before jumping over to Germany to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. After visiting Russia, it all ends in the United States for an American style holiday. This is a kaleidoscope of winter celebration personified through song, dance and dialogue.
This high energy class includes singing, acting and Broadway style dancing for beginners to more experienced students. The class is team taught by three instructors from Dallas Summer Musicals Academy – a Choreographer, a Music Director/Vocal Coach and a Stage Director/Acting Coach. Performances of COOL YULE TIDINGS on December 12, 2009 will either be in the studio theatre at The Majestic Theatre on Elm Street or if the class is larger, the show will be moved to the Creative Arts Showplace Theatre in Fair Park. Each enrollment includes 6 complimentary tickets for the either show at 2:00 and 4:00 pm. Additional seats are $5 each and all proceeds benefit the students of the musical theatre program. Join us for some Broadway style dancing, singing and acting, not to forget a whole lot of fun!
All classes must meet minimum enrollment.
There is no class during the week of Thanksgiving.
