SUMMER SHOW TUNES CAMP DESCRIPTION
Let the kids have a Broadway blast this July in a Broadway Musical Theatre Camp sponsored by Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts at Northpark, YMCA, Fort Worth. In this camp, students concentrate on Broadway style dance training and singing skills with a DSM Academy choreographer/acting coach and a music director/vocal coach. The scripts and scores from current and classic musicals are used as text books. The instructors develop with the students an end-of camp performance called Summer Show Tunes presented in a Broadway revue format. Every student gets to shine when this revue is performed along with the camps from other locations at The Hall of State Theatre in Fair Park on July 24th at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. Both performances are open to the general public. Age appropriate material from such shows as A Chorus Line, Legally Blond, The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, Willy Wonka, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Wicked, Hairspray, Annie, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Sound of Music, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Shrek, Oliver, Phantom, 101 Dalmatians, and Cats are among the musicals being considered for the 2010 Summer Show Tunes revue. This July let the kids go beyond the traditional summer day camp by learning skills that belong in the spotlight. Enroll in person at Northpark YMCA!
