Let the kids have a Broadway blast this June in a musical theatre class offered by Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts. In this program, students concentrate on Broadway style dance training and singing skills with a DSM Academy choreographer and music director. Selections from the score and script of Seussical are used to strengthen performance skills.

About the Show
From the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, the narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton feels he must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he feels he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant through the tales of Dr. Seuss.

The class presentation is open to the public and free. So invite the neighborhood! No theatrical experience is necessary to participate. Most costumes and props will be supplied by DSM Academy and some may be borrowed from home. This June let the kids learn skills that belong in the spotlight.
